Ted Scanlon

Medusa

Ted Scanlon has a passion to teach young people about music. He is a musician, composer and music instructor, and recently left a job as an audio engineer to focus on his guitar instruction studio.

When he was twelve years old, with the encouragement of his mother, he picked up the guitar for the first time and began teaching himself to play. Soon after, he received an electric guitar from his uncle and a life-long passion was born.

After years of struggling in the school system as a child and teen, he found a good fit at WestSide High School and graduated early with his diploma. He worked as a carpenter and built homes in the Seattle and Wenatchee areas, and then went back to school to study music. In 2010, he graduated from Wenatchee Valley College with an Associate of Fine Arts in Music with honors and a 3.9 GPA. He began teaching guitar lessons out of his home as a side job, and then started his own business as a Private Guitar Instructor, and now runs a successful studio for people of all ages at Avalon Music in Wenatchee. He enjoys playing in the pit for musical theater and was recently involved in productions with Leavenworth Summer Theater, Wenatchee High School and Music Theater of Wenatchee.

Ted would like to thank the teachers who believed in him and saw the best in him throughout his education; Mrs. Darling at Foothills Middle School, Mr. Wellman at Westside High School, and Cheryl Niccum, Mike Choman, and Juel Iwaasa from WVC.
